• Is God Enough?

Father, don’t you hear my prayers?
I praise and glorify your name
But you don’t seem to care my cares

Father, don’t you see my deeds?
    I humble myself for you
But you don’t seem to need my needs

I told you I would die for you
    Aren’t my words enough?
Why must you take good things from me?
Why must this life be so rough?

Why do you continue to test me â??
    Isn’t my devotion clear?
What must I do; what must I say
So I know that you can hear?

Father, won’t you feel my love?
I give you all I am
I’ve set my heart on things above

    Father, calm my troubled heart
    Bring me close to you
From you I can’t stand to be apart

    I need you to know you’re all I need;
Test me — that it may be shown
I’m not afraid, because I have your love
And the promise that you’ve made known

If you must know you’re all I need
Then test me — I understand
For I know you’re there when I call your name
Because you hold me in your hand…

  • Turn Away

Time after time we slip away
We do our best yet fail the test
    Every single day
We fight so hard to do it right
We get back up but fall back down
    Why do we even try?

Year after year we crumble away
Like a stone that shatters the bone
    Or cancer that feeds
We give up hope of victory
We scorn those who’ve led us to fail
    And it multiplies our pain.

    Turn away from it all
    And say you’re sorry
Recognize the error of your ways
    Turn away from the past
    And promise not to return
Trust and obey; do not run away
And He’ll be with you all your days

Day after day we fall away
Until a Legion we have become
    Overcome with shame
    We’d cleaned out our hearts
But didn’t fill them with gold
    Now shadows reside

We need to find two words to say
To melt a heart that’s turned to stone
    And restore our soul
To lift our shame and bring us hope
To lift our spirit and give us joy
    And come home…

    Turn away from it all
    And say you’re sorry
Recognize the error of your ways
    Turn away from the past
    And promise not to return
Trust and obey; do not run away
And He’ll be with you all your days

    Turn away from the world
    And say “I’m sorry!”
Turn away from the way you used to go
He waits for us with open arms
    Hoping for our return
Turn and obey; come home and stay
“I forgive you!” He longs to say

  • Shine the Light

    Matthew 5:14-16, 2 Corinthians 4:6-12

Let your light shine on the world
Lift it high up in the air
    For all to see
Let your lamp burn in the night
    And you will see

How many will draw near to the flame
Many more will run from its heat
Some will come close and be
    Scorched by the fire
    But never bow in defeat

    Shine, shine the light
His glory will keep it bright
He is the Truth and the Way
We need to trust and obey
    And let His glory shine

Let your light light up the darkness
Bring it out from beneath the bowl
    So all can see
Lift it up out of the hole
    For all to see

How many will find comfort from its heat
Many more will draw strength from its flame
    Some will be cold
    For they’re too far away
He won’t hear when they call on His name

    Shine, shine the light
Let His mercy shine so bright
He’ll be with us each day
If we walk in His Way
    And let His mercy shine

    Shine, shine the light
His glory will keep it bright
He is the Truth and the Way
We need to trust and obey
    And let His glory shine

    Let it shine

  • Riches

    Matthew 6:19-24, Psalm 39:11, Psalm 49:10, Psalm 16:5-6, Luke 12:16-21

Fix your eyes on things of Heaven
Not on treasures of the earth
Set your sights on things eternal
Not on those of passing worth
    For the moths will come
And the rust, it will destroy
And the thieves will come and take it all away

    Store up the everlasting
And the blessings they will flow
He will keep His promise to you
Keep His words and you will know
    What it means to be
    A rich and wealthy man
The life of whom will never see decay

And the riches of His love rain down from Heaven
The river of His mercy flows so deep
His power and His glory shine forever
While the promise of His love will always keep

Lord, You gave to me all I have
What You give is all I need
So I won’t look for man to give me
A portion more than you’ve decreed
    You fill me up
    And I am satisfied
The things You give compel me to share

So I set me sights on Heaven
And Your kingdom here on earth
Your love, it draws me nearward
My heart, You keep it pure
    For the day will come
    When it all passes away
And all will have to answer You there

    And it won’t be long
    ‘Til I see Your face
    So I’ll sing my songs
While I stand in Your grace…

  • Looking Back

    Numbers 11:18-20

Out of slavery; into the desert
    Out of bondage; into Life
We need only walk the path He leads
But sometimes it seems too much

    Where are we going, Lord?
Where are you leading us to?
How much longer until we’re there?
    When will we be through?

This road is rocky, this way is hard
There must be an easier way
Maybe it’s not too late to return
To that place from where we came

You promised us a special place
That we could call our own
And be with you forever and ever
    Please bring your people home

We’re happy that you’ve rescued us
    We’re thankful for Your love
But why out here in this desolate land
    Haven’t we suffered enough?

But I guess we’ll keep on moving
In You we must place our trust
Forgive us our fear and grumbling and doubt
We forget that your love is enough

  • I Live for God

    Romans 14:7-8

    I live for God
    Now and every day
    My life is a blessing
    I just can’t repay

Don’t you see it on my face?
Can’t you see it in my eyes?
Don’t you hear it on my lips?
His light I will not hide

    I live for God
    It wasn’t always so
I used to live for me
    Not so long ago

    I knew what I wanted
    He knows what I need
To have a life worth living
    I must follow His lead

    My life is a mist
    That fades with the dawn
    Through Him I have purpose
    Hope to carry on

    His ways are simple
Though I make them seem rough
    My spirit is willing
    His Love makes me tough

    I live for God
    Now and every day
    My life is a blessing
    I just can’t repay

    I live for God
    For He died for me
    But only as His servant
    Can I be set free

  • A Cord of Three

    Ecclesiastes 4:12

As I walk down the path of righteousness
    I see you walking there
With both arms holding onto Him
Letting go – you do not dare

But I see myself on His other side
    Holding on as well
Asking if I can have this chance
To hold you for just a spell

So I let go with one arm, and draw you close to me
You let go with yours, and now we’re one, you see
Between us winds the wonderful part
The part that makes us strong
The part that makes us free
The tighter we hold Him the stronger we’ll be
Can’t break this cord of three

If you ever find yourself a-slipping
And you need a better grip
Don’t let Him go to cling to me
You’ll just cause me to slip

Rather take both hands and reach for Him
    As I adjust my own
And I’ll still be hanging next to you
As He makes His purpose known

And with His mighty arms, He’ll draw you close to me
As long as we hold on, we’ll all be one, you see
Between us winds the wonderful part
The part that makes us strong
The part that makes us free
The tighter we hold Him the stronger we’ll be
Can’t break this cord of three

So if I find myself a-slipping
    This promise I will make:
To hold my God much closer
So that this cord won’t break

    Our love cannot unravel
If we hold on to the core
As we wind around each other
We build up so much more

Our time here together is just a moment in His eyes
And He’s lent us to each other while we run toward His prize
    We will always be together
Because His love, it makes us strong
His love, it sets us free
And as long as we remain in Him
    Forever will we be…

    A cord of three

  • Best Friends

    Time has passed
But I think of you every single day —
    Of your love for me
    My friend you’ll be
    For eternity

    The world turns
So I pray for you each and every day —
    For joy and peace
    And love at least
    ‘Til the wedding feast

    We’d never met
    But you loved me more
    Than any ever had —
    You cared for my soul
    You were strong,
    You were bold
    And made sure
    The Truth was told

    The days go by
And I talk about you every day —
    Of the love you shared
    And how much you cared
    My soul lays bare

    The Time will come
When I’ll be with you every single day —
    For now I’ll make due
    Just thinking of you
    And loving you

    We’d never met
    But you loved me more
    Than any ever had —
    You cared for my soul
    You were strong,
    You were bold
    And made sure
    The Truth was told

Some days we’ll be closer than others
In location maybe far apart —
But even if I never saw you again
You would always be my friend,
For in Heaven we’ve stored our hearts…

  • Give Thanks to the Lord

    Give thanks to the Lord,
    Rejoice in His name.
    Blessed was the earth
    The day that He came.

    To save and protect us,
    He died on that day
    To bring us salvation
    And wash sins away.

    Our Savior is He
    And Champion o’er death;
    Proclaim His great name
    With every new breath!

    He suffered and died
    Then He rose up above;
    Let’s sing of His glory
    And tell of His love.

    Give thanks to the Lord;
    For us, He did die;
    And with Him our sins,
    Sing His name on high!

    He rose in great glory
    May all the world hear
    Of God and the story
    That’s told loud and clear…

    A great sacrifice
    We cannot repay
    But with word and deed
    And love that doth stay.

    We raise up our voices
    In gleeful accord
    With great exultation
    Give thanks to the Lord!

  • I’ve Been Called

    Matthew 28:18-20

    The path lay straight
My eyes are fixed on the road ahead
    But at my feet
Lay the bones of those who have gone before
    It seems so clear
The steps that I’ve been called to take
    But who can know
What it’s like to walk in my shoes?

But I’ve been called to make a difference
    Called to lead the way
To dig beneath the surface of the smiles
To find the hearts that have decayed
To bring them hope and promise
Of a love that never ends
And the truth about a man whose blood
    Washes away our sins

    It’s plain to see
What so many just can’t understand
    He is the Truth,
The Way, the Life — He is my Lord
    I must go
Wherever He may take me ’cause
    He is the Light
And I’ll take Him wherever I go

Woe the man who walks beside the road
Cutting a wayward path to the unknown
Searching for his own way home
He knows not where he goes

    I’ve been called
    And I agreed
    I’ve been called
    And now I’m freed
I’ve been called to face my fears
    And now I hear
What God’s been trying to tell me
    All these years
